Cambridge Who's Who Names Peter J. Baiocco, MD, Professional of the Year in Gastroenterology

NEW YORK, NY, October 05, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Peter J. Baiocco has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Gastroenterology. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Dr. Baiocco has 28 years of experience as a medical doctor at Lenox Hill Hospital. His area of expertise is gastroenterology. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Baiocco has been involved with the training and education of residents striving to be gastroenterologists, and for the past 5 years has been the Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program at Lenox Hill Hospital. His area of interest is in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, where he is widely published. He is presently doing research on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the use of anti-platelet drugs. He attributes his success to his ability to care for patients with dignity, compassion and respect and has always been very passionate about education and the training of future physicians.

Dr. Baiocco completed his residency and fellowship training at Lenox Hill Hospital, after earning an MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is a member of many professional societies, most notably, MSSNY, NYSGE, Morgagni Medical Society, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Dr. Baiocco has been recognized by Castle Connolly as one of the "Top Doctors" in the New York metropolitan area in 2008, 2010, and 2011. He has also been honored with a" Outstanding Clinical Educator Award" and an AMA Recognition Award. Looking toward the future, Dr. Baiocco hopes to continue his work in gastroenterology and contribute to the field in his care of patients and education of young physicians in training.
