Alexander C. Smith has led an illustrious career in the fields of production, manufacturing, customer service and health care

ELMONT, NY, August 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alexander C. Smith, Radiologic Technologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

Now thriving in his second year as Radiologic Technologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Alexander C. Smith is recognized for his illustrious and expansive career, which has spanned over several decades and a multitude of industries.

Mr. Smith started his career in Kingston, Jamaica in 1983 as a production assistant for West Indies Containers Ltd., where he directed over 55 staff members, coordinated all plant activities to ensure compliance with budgeting goals, conducted monthly staff meetings, prepared production budgets and reports, and implemented an incentive scheme for production line workers. During his 13-year tenure with West Indies Containers, Mr. Smith was promoted to production superintendent and production manager. In 1997, he joined Universal Stores Limited. As store manager, he was charged with overseeing sales operations, preparing sales reports, recruiting employees and conducting monthly staff meetings. Just one year later, Mr. Smith was again promoted as a marketing warehouse supervisor with Supreme Chemicals, as which he coordinated activities to ensure the timely delivery of order, directed six employees and ensured the provision of exceptional customer service. Mr. Smith worked in this function for five years before he joined Hertz Corporation in 2004, bringing honed client relations expertise to his position as counter sales representative. There, he provided billing information, assisted in the provision of rental services and collected security deposit payments.

Mr. Smith ultimately delved into the health care industry in 2004 as a pharmacy technician at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Holding the position for four years until 2008, he prepared medication for patients, assisted pharmacists and responded to nursing queries. He ventured into radiology in 2008, earning an associate of applied science at CUNY Eugenio Marķa de Hostos Community College. Since becoming a certified pharmacy technician, he has worked as a radiologic technologist at Park Health Center, for the Queens Long Island Medical Group and in the Office of Dr. Arnold Goldman, MD.

Today, Mr. Smith draws upon his expertise to assist in the Emergency Department, Radiology and Operating Room of New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in radiographic examinations using computed radiography and direct radiography systems. His hard work distinguishes him from among his peers, and Mr. Smith will seek to continue in his field with a focus on computerized axial tomography scanning as he moves forward.

Mr. Smith holds a bachelor of science in business management from The University of the West Indies and a diploma in mechanical engineering from the University of Technology from Jamaica. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
