She previously worked as a flight attendant and in child protective services.

In 1995, Ms. Johnson received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and History from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She received an Award for Being Number One in Increasing Market Share for Product Levels at the Triple Crown Contest held by the Workforce and Professional Development Institute. She also received the Monetary Award for Number One District three times.
