Amy J. Maxberry Manages Three Pharmacy & Dispensing Facilities for NorthShore Health Centers
LAKE STATION, IN, July 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amy J. Maxberry, Director of Pharmacy at NorthShore Health Centers, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in pharmaceutical management.
Mrs. Maxberry assumed her current position at NorthShore Health Centers in 2008 shortly after completing a clinical rotation with the Medical Director. As pharmacy director, she is tasked with supervising a new pharmacy and two dispensaries at three separate locations for the center, namely: The Stacy McKay Health & Education Center, the Lake Station facility, and the Scottsdale facility. Mrs. Maxberry is working to launch the clinic's first onsite pharmacy, scheduled to open this July. Her responsibilities include setting up the pharmacy for dispensing, coordinating and negotiating with insurance companies, and implementing clinical pharmacy services for patients.
In addition to her administrative work for NorthShore Health Centers, Mrs. Maxberry is active in the field of research and development. She has a patent pending for a pharmaceutical vial cap designed to promote patient safety, a subject about which she is passionate. She has spoken on this topic before the Health Resources and Services Administration in Washington, DC. Originally set on a career as a doctor, Mrs. Maxberry ventured into pharmaceuticals instead after acquiring a fascination with various medicines while attending college. She attributes her success to her education and the support that she receives from her friends, family and coworkers.
A recent graduate of Purdue University, Mrs. Maxberry earned a Doctor of Pharmacy, with a minor in Psychology. She is a member of the Indiana Pharmacist Alliance, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In her spare time, she stays active within the community and trains to run her first marathon with Team Rwanda from Faith Church, a fundraiser for HIV patients in Africa. Her goals for the next five years include expanding clinical pharmacy services at NorthShore Health Centers and continuing to promote patient safety throughout the healthcare field.
NorthShore Health Centers take pride in providing access to quality, culturally sensitive health and dental care services, regardless of a patient's ability to pay. For more information, visit http://www.northshorehealth.org.
