Dr. Lekisha Evette Griffin is recognized for being a leader in the pharmaceutical industry
PITTSFORD, NY, June 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Lekisha Evette Griffin, Pharmacy Manager at Tops Friendly Markets Pharmacy #410 has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of pharmacy.
With over 10 years of pharmacy experience, Dr. Griffin specializes in working with diabetes patients and is working on becoming a certified diabetes educator (CDE). On a daily basis, she is responsible for overseeing pharmacy technicians and ancillary staff, ordering medications and supplies, following state and federal laws, filling prescriptions and checking for accuracy, contacting prescribers (e.g. physicians, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, optometrists, etc.) and insurance providers, and providing patient counseling and over the counter pharmacy recommendations. Dr. Griffin began her career at Rite Aid in 1998 as a pharmacy technician in Ithaca, NY, became a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) in March 2001 in Rochester, NY, worked as a pharmacy intern from May 2003 to August 2006 for Rite Aid in Buffalo, NY, completed a corporate pharmacy internship with Rite Aid in Harrisburg, PA during the summer of 2005, and worked as a pharmacy manager with Rite Aid in Rochester, NY from August 2006 to August 2007. She joined Tops Friendly Markets as a Pharmacy Manager in August 2007. In August 2008, Dr. Griffin became a preceptor and adjunct assistant professor for the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at Saint John Fisher College in Rochester, NY where she mentors and teaches students, assists students in achieving objectives associated with either introductory or advanced community pharmacy practice rotations, assesses student performance, and has students assess her performance as a preceptor and adjunct assistant professor. In addition to her pharmacy career, she assists student pharmacists who are members of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) by sponsoring student trips to regional and national conferences and is available for mentoring. She attributes her success to the support she receives from her mentors.
Dr. Griffin received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from SUNY Buffalo in 2006 and her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 1999. She recently became a Notary Public for the County of Monroe in Rochester, NY, in January 2009. She was a recipient of a Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges award in April 2006. Dr. Griffin is very active and involved in many professional organizations and alumni organizations associated both with Cornell University and SUNY Buffalo. These include:
