Thomas A. Waldmann, M.D., Chief of the Metabolism Branch at the NCI, NIH will give the keynote presentation at GTCbio's at 3rd Annual Immunodiagnostics & Immunomonitoring Conference on April 23-24, 2009 in Chicago, IL.

MONROVIA, CA, January 08, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- : Dr. Thomas A. Waldmann, Chief of the Metabolism Branch at the National Cancer Institute at NIH will give the keynote address entitled "Effective Systemic Radioimmunotherapy of Lymphoma with Armed Monoclonal Antibodies" at GTCbio's 3rd Annual Immunodiagnostics & Immunomonitoring Conference being held on April 23-24, 2009 in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Waldmann will discuss a new strategy for the treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma. His approach targets normal T-cells surrounding the malignant cells rather than the malignant cells themselves. Hodgkin's lymphoma, more commonly known as Hodgkin's disease, is characterized as the orderly spread of disease from one lymph node group to another and by the development of systemic symptoms with advanced disease.

Dr. Waldmann received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He joined the NCI in 1956, and has been Chief of the Metabolism Branch since 1973. Dr. Waldmann has received numerous awards for his achievements and is recognized as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Institute of Medicine, NAS.
